Now that the sun is stronger and the air is more humid, what should you be doing to protect the longevity of your handbag?
After all the time and effort we put into maintaining our own skin, lets take a moment to discuss a few simple ways to protect the skins of our most precious handbags.
Here are a few tips we found helpful from our recent interview with Docride:
- Don’t grab your bag when your hand is full of suntan lotion.
- Do not leave your bag sitting behind a bright a window. That will often fade them.
- If you’re in a hot humid place, let your bags be in a place where the air moves freely. Keep your bags in an air-conditioned area.
and of course, always keep them properly stuffed when not in use! For more questions on the care of your handbags, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you!

Great tips! Thanks, Fairy.
This was a concern for me too; as the handles of my Himalayan Birkin stated to oxidize. I submitted my design for bespoke handle protectors to Hermes; but couldn’t wait, and started making them myself.
I don’t keep my “Love Handles” on my bags 24/7 ; but I never leave home without them.
Your bag will age over time, please don’t panic as this is normal as it is a natural product.
